Recommended Clamp On Crossbars for an Audi Q5

Question:

Hello, I have a 2019 Honda CRV with OEM roof rails front to back and am considering this rack or the Yamika as understand that the fit kit can be left permanently on the roof rails. The Yakima seems to be very high up above the roof 5”+ while the Rhino is 3”+ above the roof which is why I am leaning in the direction of the Rino. Would you mind telling me or better sending me a photo of the Rino fitting as it looks when the rack is off. I gather Yakima provides a cover but does the Rino offer a cover. Lastly I had an Audi Q5 that was using a Thule rack system that pinched the OEM roof rails as opposed to use the fixed positions provided on the rail. This would be great on the Honda as the fittings on the rails are so far back that any roof box interferes with the rear hatch. Would you have any suggestion on a rack system that would pinch the Honda rails as opposed to use the pre determined positions. See attached photos of the Thule system on the Audi that does not use the pre drilled holes inside the rails. Many thanks

While we aren't going to be able to send you a photo of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 installed, however I did check the owner's manual and when this rack is not in use you can use the included M6 x 12.5mm flat washer as a cover for the exposed feet.

As far as a roof rack system for your Audi Q5, I recommend sticking with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 and just using the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRSX030 with it.

That way you can reuse the crossbars mentioned above and will just have to swap the feet out when you go to use it on your Audi. These feet are also the clamp on type you mention, so they're super easy take on and off your vehicle.
