Trailer Turn Signals and Brake Lights do not Work on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Limited 5.9
Question:
I have a factory tow package on the vehicle. The running lights and backup lights have power at the rear plug. However, the brake and blinker lights do not. Will this product fix my problem. Also, where on the vehicle should this part be installed?

Since your 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with the factory tow package, I would guess you have blown fuses for the tow package turn signals and brake lights. Typically, you will have one fuse for the tow package or trailer left turn signal and brake light and one fuse for the right turn signal and brake light. I recommend checking your owners manual or fuse box legend to locate the tow package fuses and look for blown fuses. This should solve your problem without having to install a separate wiring harness.
If you do not want to mess with the fuses and want to install a separate wiring harness, then the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55260, that you referenced is the part you need. To install this harness, you will first need to make sure the harness is wired correctly. For the 1998 Grand Cherokee, the right turn signal (green wire) should be connected to the small black (4-pin) plug. Left Turn signal (yellow wire) should be connected to the large grey plug.
Next, you will open the rear hatch and remove the scuff panel. You will then need to access the vehicles taillight wiring harness behind the passenger side trim panel. The connectors will match the connectors on the Curt harness. You will see a small black connector that mates with the black connector from this harness. The gray connectors will tee into the wiring harness going into the tail light assembly. I have attached the installation instructions for this harness for you to check out.
