Recommended 5TH Wheel Hitch For a 2018 Ford F-250 Short Bed With Factory Puck/Prep System
Question:
I have a 2018 Ford 250 Super duty with a 6 3/4 bed and their factory installed towing system. A friend of mine has offered me the BW Model RVB 3500 fifth wheel hitch, but I am unsure if it would work correctly with a short bed truck. It is not the slider version. Please help...

With your 2018 Ford F-250 having the factory in bed towing system the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM8550024 is going to be the best 5th wheel hitch option. This will automatically slide the 5th wheel further from your truck cab as you turn to prevent the side of the trailer from hitting your cab since you do not have the clearance needed with a 6-3/4' bed. This will save you from having to get out of your truck to position it in the maneuvering position like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider # BWRVK3370 requires.
The B&W Companion # BWRVK3500 your friend mentioned is only going to fit in a B&W Turnover # BWGNRK1116 and not your factory puck/prep system.
The Demco Autoslide may require a locking plate which attaches to the pin box. If you have a Glide Ride, Mor Ryde, Trailair Tri Glide, Trailair Flexair, Rota Flex, Rhino or 5th Airborne pin box you will need one of these specialized locking plates. Please let me know what pin box you have and I will confirm the correct locking plate or if one is needed.
