Troubleshooting Check Trailer Wiring & Trailer Connected 2016 Chevy Tahoe While Hauling Boat Trailer

Question:

i have a 2016 Tahoe towing a brand new boat trailer, continue to get an error message check trailer wiring, then another message trailer connected, Chevy dealer says Tahoe is fine, Boat trailer people say all trailer wiring is fine? Do you offer something to correct this issue?

It sounds like there is an issue between the ground connection on your 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe and your boat trailer. With your trailer being new you likely have LED lights which have a very low power draw. I recommend checking the boats trailer connector for any corrosion/oxidation on the contacts. If present you will want to clean with a wire brush and be sure to use Dielectric Grease # 11755 on the connections. Also with your hitch ball add some Grease # 58117 to help reduce the metal on metal contact surface which your trailer may be using rather than going through the harness itself.
