Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2020 Ford Expedition with 2018 Tiffin Phaeton

Question:

Hello, I own a 2018 Tiffin Pheaton 40IH on a road glide chassis air over hydraulic brakes and I would like to set up my 2020 Ford Expedition Max King Ranch 4x4 for flat towing. Any recommendations you could make for all components needed base plates, tow bar, wiring harness, brake controller, brake light control, etc. and anything else to make the utility straight forward, simple and as invisible as possible while the Expedition is in use as a stand alone vehicle. Appreciate the help!

The first thing you need to flat tow your 2020 Ford Expedition is a base plate kit like the Roadmaster Direct Connect part # RM-524457-5 which is easy to install and use and has removable arms so it's "invisible" when not in use like you are wanting.

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon All Terain, # RM-522. This has non-binding arms which makes the setup very easy to connect/disconnect.

For lighting/safety cables, locks, and covers for the tow bar we have the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain kit part # RM-9243-1 which comes with all of that as one part number. The diode kit that comes with this allows you to splice into the taillight wiring so that your RV controls the vehicle taillights and does not require drilling into the taillight housings. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

Since you have a Tiffin with air brakes the system you'd want for braking is the Demco Air Force One part # DM55MV which was designed specifically for your Tiffin and ties into the air brake system of your motorhome to give you proportional braking.
