Parts Needed to Add Disc Brakes to Timbren Axle Less Kit ASR35HDS02

Question:

Hello, I am looking to find disc brake hubs that fit with the ASR35HDS02. I have looked through your QandA and the question has been asked before but the answers to which hubs work well seems to differ. For example, here: The suggested parts call for a GS-2125DL grease seal with a 2.125inch ID. However, here: The idler hub recommended 008-213-9B uses RG06-070 which has a 2.25inch ID. Lastly, here The #42 spindle is referenced and the hub recommended is 42865-KIT with a 2.125inch ID. However, the #42 spindle references a 2.25inch ID grease seal. Can you please confirm which disc hubs will work with these axles and also the bearings and grease seals appropriate.

Expert Reply:

The spindle diameter of the Timbren kit part # ASR35HDS02 where the seal rides is definitely 2.25 inch so to go with a disc brake setup for this setup will require a hub that has that size seal. That said, the Kodiak Disc brake kit part # K2HR526DKG that was mentioned in the first question you referenced does require correct size inner seal so it would work great.

The seals needed are # RG06-070. You would also need the bearings part # 25580 and # 15123. The bearings are sold individually so you would need to order a quantity of two for two hubs (the grease seals are sold as a pair).
