Parts Needed For Brake Controller on 1999 E450 Motorhome With 4-Flat

Question:

I have a 1999 E450 29 coachmen motorhome. I would like to install a trailer brake controller and the 7 pin plug required to tow my trailer. It is currently only set up with a 4 pin plug for trailer lights. What parts do you suggest for this?

Since you already have a 4-flat on your 1999 Ford E450, all you need to add is the 7-way, wiring, and brake controller itself. So start with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.

You'll just plug your 4-way into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, and this kit also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation. I do recommend adding 10 or so feet of extra 10 gauge wire since you have a longer motorhome; you can get this by the foot with # 10-2-1.

Then for an easy to use, highly reliable brake controller that will give you really smooth braking use the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
