How To Find Capacity of Dexter P-15 SLR Axle SN# D 416  

Question:

I have a Dexter axle P-15 model SLR SN# D 4167277 Im trying to find out the capacity, but all the info in how to decipher the serial numbers give confusing info. Can you decipher the serial number please?

The easiest way to find the axle capacity if it's a round axle is to measure the diameter. I have attached for you below a list of the diameters and their corresponding capacities.

- 1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2 inch - 1-3/4 inch diameter
- 3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8 inch diameter
- 6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3 inch diameter
- 8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2 inch diameter
- 9,000-lb Axles: 4 inch diameter
- 10,000-lb Or more axles: 5 inch diameter

Unfortunately, we aren't able to look up Dexter series numbers.
