Can The Base Of A B&W Companion Be Swapped Out To Fit New Vehicles

Question:

I have a BandW hitch, not a slider hitch, that I took out of my 2022 F350. I just bought a 2024 Silverado 3500 with the puck system. Its my understanding that I can replace just the base unit and install the head unit onto the new base unit that will fit a new Chevy. Can you point me in the right direction to getting just the base unit for a BandW 5th wheel hitch for my 2024 Chevy?

You're correct, the head of your B&W Companion can be swapped over to a new base to fit in the pucks of your 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500. If your bed is less than 8' then you'd want to go with the Replacement Slider Base for B&W Companion Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVB3775 for the extra turning clearance. If the bed if 8' then the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC # BWRVB3710 is all you'll need.

The hitch head of the Companion is attached to the pivot arms by two pin and clips that you can remove and then lift the hitch head up off of the pivot arms and drop down onto the new base and then slide the pins in to lock it in place.
