Recommended Replacement For An Atwood MPD 93756 RV Water Heater

Question:

Hi, I am looking for a replacement water heater tank for an Atwood MPD 93756. Are these 6 gallon tanks available? If not, is there a replacement unit that would fit directly without having to work on the gas line?

Atwood unfortunately went out of business some time ago so you'll be looking at modifications to your gas and water line placement and possibly to your cutout hole as well. You might be able to find a replacement tank, but you'd likely be buying it secondhand. From what I can find on the Atwood MPD 93756 it's 12.5" tall x 16" wide so you'd most likely have to frame in the width a bit to mount a new water heater since as time goes on they keep getting smaller.

Everyone is going tankless now so I recommend the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR. This unit can produce 144 gallons of hot water an hour and has a thermostat that will allow you to change the temperature by the degree instead of just a knob with an arrow saying hotter or colder on it. The main unit is 12-5/8" wide x 12-5/8" tall x 19-1/4" deep so you'd likely just have frame in some boards for the unit to mount on. The access door has an exterior measurement of 16-1/8" x 16-1/8". If your current door is a bit wider then you can use part # FR48SR instead for a 16-1/8" tall x 18-1/8" wide access door.

You'll want to use some butyl tape # AL28FJ on the mounting flanges of the unit and access door as well as some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outer edge of the access door to waterproof it.
