Brake Controller Installation on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma with Factory 7-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
Hello, Mike L answered a question about 2006 Tacoma with a 7 pin plug in. He indicated that 2006 Tacoma didnt offer a 7 pin connector. That is incorrect as I have one too. This was answered under this title online: Brake Controller Installation on 2006 Toyota Tacoma w/ 7-Way Trailer Connector Does the fact that they were offered change the answer Mike gave? I have the same situation and need a controller on mine. It would certainly help if there were pre-wires already there. Also, I am not criticizing, I just would like an update if there is one. Thank you

Thank you for reaching out about this!
It does look like Mike was mistaken about the factory 7-Way option on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma so I'll be sending in an update on that page.
The thing that changes is to install the Prodigy P2 # 90885 you simply need the Plug-In Wiring Adapter # C51362 which connects to a plug that's tied up under your driver-side dash. You'll have to cut off the black connector and splice this to the pigtail that comes with the P2 so you'll then have a plug-and-play style of adapter.
I've linked an installation video of the wiring adapter on a 2012 Tacoma for you to check out.
