Why Won't Firestone Air Bag Kit Fit a 2008 Thor Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2008, Ford v10, Hurricane Class A, Four Winds Thor and am thinking about Firestone Air Springs. In the part posting, it says will not fit Thor motor coach, however, when I look at the frame, looks like the pre frame holes are there and plenty of room for the air bag/mounting, am I missing something?

We list the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2170 as a non-fitment on your 2008 Ford F-53 Thor motorhome because that's what Firestone has marked in their fit guide.

When I reached out to my contact at Firestone for more details he said it may fit, but when they looked at the Thor line of motorhomes the vast majority of them had some type of interference with the upper bracket. This could be gas lines, water lines, electrical wiring, or other pieces. Because of this they have it officially marked as not being compatible with a Thor motorhome.

So if you believe you have enough clearance you can go ahead and install the air bag kit - just go in with the understanding that you have to check and make sure nothing will be in the way of the brackets prior to installing them
