Can Weight Distribution System be Used with 3.5 foot Hitch Extender
Question:
my setup is a ram 3500 w/truck camper with a 3.5 foot hitch extension to get past the camper....pulling a double axle 5000lb-6000lb loaded cargo trailer....the static tounge weight is currently 500lbs which is putting too much weight on the extension bar given the 3.5ft leverage..., even tho I have it chained back and up to bolted plates in the bed.....would a wds system like this work under these conditions to take he weight off the hitch extension? ...trailer sway is not an issue...I know how to load a trailer weight forward! Personally I think the trailer weight is way too much empty..Im thinking of actually moving the axles forward but not looking to doing that. Thank you for your time.

If the hitch extension is rated for use with weight distribution systems you could use a kit like the Curt # C17063 to help distribute some of the tongue weight off of it but you'd have to check to make sure. There might actually be a second set of capacities listed for it if using a weight distribution system.
