Motorcycle Carrier Recommendation For 2013 Dodge Durango With Factory Tow Package
Question:
Hello, seeking advice on safe tow and load for my vehicle. Im considering using a motorcycle carrier in the factory receiver, though all weight is about 300 lbs. I also want to tow a light weight camper 4k with tongue weight about 3-400 lbs. Am I within factory limits? Dodge site site suggests tongue weight for CL IV 400-1200 lbs? What are my options? Thanks

I did some research on your 2013 Dodge Durango. Tongue weight would be the weight of any carrier along with the weight of any cargo on the carrier. You will want to check your owners manual or with your dealership to get the vehicle towing capacity and the tongue weight capacity of the Durango.
I recommend the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier, part # e98873. This carrier fits in 2 inch receivers and has a weight capacity of 500 lbs. This carrier features a 39-3/8 inch ramp that stores on the carrier when traveling. The carrier weighs 58 lbs, so added to the 300 lbs you say your motorcycle weighs, if you have at least 358 lbs tongue weight capacity, you should have no problem using it.
I also recommend tie-downs for your motorcycle like part # EM05710. These straps feature a ratchet design and are 1 inch wide and 6 ft long.
With a 6200 lb towing capacity, you should have no problem towing a 4000 lb trailer like you mentioned. We carry several hitch ball mount options you can choose from. I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This kit features 2 ball mounts and also 2 hitch balls, along with a pin and clip and a carrying bag. If you plan on using your motorcycle carrier along with your trailer, you will probably exceed your tongue weight capacity.
