Parts Needed To Use Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller On a 2008 Toyota Tacoma With T-One 118496
Question:
I purchased the Draw-Tite 118496 T-One Connector for Toyota T100/Tacoma from you guys a few years back and need to add trailer brake capability now. Id like to go with the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug Mount w/ Bluetooth App part number C51180. I saw in your ASK THE EXPERT section an earlier response to another one of your customers that all they needed to do was to have the 12 volt, ground and turn signals to be connected to the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller. Does the 12 volt need to be connected directly to the positiver terminal of the battery or to something else? Thanks for your help and also for all the great products and support Ive gottem from you guys...greatly apprecaited.

As you already have the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118496 on your 2008 Toyota Tacoma you will want to use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L. This will give you the 7-way you need to plug the Curt Echo # C51180 into. It also includes the wiring and circuit breaker needed to connect to your battery. This will connect directly to the battery unless you wish to connect it to the ignition with a Relay # BDW42035. This will then only provide power to the charge line when the ignition is switched on. It is best to do this if you leave your trailer connected and it continues to draw power for any other accessories on the trailer. Otherwise it could drain your vehicle battery.
