Is Stromberg Carlson Replacement Standoff Nut Difficult to Readjust

Question:

Hello Looking to buy a strom. Carlson rv ladder support...the 12 in one that you cut to size. They say there is some nut inside the tube that you have to do something with when you cut it so you can attach the plastic end piece and to the ladder vertical strut.. Ive read that you push it down the tube, From the ones Ive seen at Camping World and didnt buy for the cost but it looks tight. It doesnt look like it wants to move anywhere. Does it come out so you can jam it back in when done cutting. It doesnt really look like you can push it down the tube. Help!! before I get this and cant work it. Sorry if this turns out to be a dumb question..I want to cover all the bases before I buy it. Thanks

No worries, it's definitely better to know what you're getting into rather than just winging it!

The Standoff Nut # FST-9975 that comes already inserted into the tube of the Replacement Standoff # SPN-416 is designed to "bite" into the tubing itself so you get a secure setup. This means it will be pretty difficult to move by hand which I tried doing myself.

You'll either need to use a hammer and a type of punch or some other way to seat that standoff nut further into the tube.
