Question:
Hi, I am hoping to get some advice on which hitch to buy. I have a 2014 ford focus SE manual trans and Im between the Curt C11158 and the Drawtite 24872. I will be using it for this trailer ACE single rail motorcycle trailer SKU:01-6701 Which is better? And what other equiptment would be needed? such as the ball size? Thank you for any help in advance

Personally I prefer the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11158 over the Draw-Tite # 24872 as the Curt is made in the USA. Both these are Class I receivers with a capacity up to 2,000lbs of trailer weight and 200lbs of tongue weight. Be sure to verify the capacity for your 2014 Ford Focus SE with either your owners manual or Ford dealer. You will need either a 4-way flat wiring harness for the trailer lights. We have the Kit # 118548 which fits the sedan or the Kit # 118549 if you have a hatchback.
When we installed the Curt receiver on a similar 2014 Focus in our shop we measured the hitch height at 11". Your Ace motorcycle trailer has a hitch height of 14" so you will want to use the Drawbar with 2" Ball # C45572 which has a 2-5/8" rise and will fit the trailers 2" coupler. I recommend using the Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set # 3794DAT to secure your trailer to your Focus when towing and the storage lock can be used when not towing to reduce the chances of someone taking your trailer.
