Recommended Hitch and Reducer Sleeve for a 2016 Mini Countryman
Question:
This is the only hitch that fits my car, and it has a 2inch hitch opening. My bike rack fits a 1 1/4inch opening. Too big. How can I compensate for the difference? Or do you have this rack with a 1 1/4inch hitch opening?

To use an accessory for a 1-1/4" hitch receiver in a 2" receiver you will need the Hitch Reducer item # HT02. Most bike racks are not rated to be used with hitch adapters plus the use of an adapter like item # e58YR will reduce your hitches capacity by 50%. This would put the tongue weight capacity for the M7 Speed MINI Ultimate Utility Hitch item # 327-60-160200 at only 75 lbs. A hitch reducer does not affect a hitches tongue weight capacity and is approved for use with bike racks.
The M7 Speed MINI Ultimate Utility Hitch item # 327-60-160200 is confirmed to fit the 2016 Mini Countryman. This hitch has a 2" receiver but it is only rated for 1,000 lbs towing and 150 lbs maximum tongue weight. This hitch will not fit the John Cooper Works models.
If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C59236 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.
