I recommend installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13072 on your 2005 Dodge Durango. This will easily bolt to the impact structure behind your rear bumper. Since it uses this impact structure it will not hang down like the other Curt # 13297. I prefer Curt as they are made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118390 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This will allow you to connect to most small trailers and Auxiliary Lights # C53201. If you are pulling a larger trailer you will need 7-Way # ETBC7 and a Brake Controller # RED52VR to tow trailers with electric brakes.
