Are Easy Grease Style Trailer Spindles Actually Better

Question:

I’d like to replace an older set of hubs that don’t have the easy grease feature like these type. Will that be all I have to do or do I need a special spindle designed to let the grease flow inside? I am aware the bearings have to match the spindle I already have so I intend to get numbers off the original inner and outer bearings to assure compatibility.

The spindle of your axle would need to have the grease fittings which can't simply be added on. You'd have to replace the entire spindle. Before you do that it's worth mentioning that we see more problems for people with those types of spindles than what you have now as they make it almost too easy to add grease to the hubs which then blows out the seal while on the highway. Packing grease by hand is the way to go and gives best results. I attached a video this page that details best way to do that.
