Is a Sealant Needed Between Boat Trailer Frame and Bunk Bracket
Question:
I was wondering when I replace my bunk brackets if I need to put any kind of material between the bracket and the trailer or if I can just have it metal to metal. The brackets that on the trailer now look like they have some type of silicone between them and the trailer.

It is possible that what you are seeing is some sort of buffer between the trailer frame and the bracket. Oxidation can occur quicker if two different metals are attached. Adding something that repels water like dielectric grease # 11755 between the two parts can help to keep out moisture and protect the metal. It is not required but you could do it.
