Tekonsha P3 Installation on a 2011 Ford E350 without Factory 7-Way
Question:
Hello, I have a 2011 E350 superduty xlt ext wagon van passenger van . I put a class IV hitch on this van for towing a large enclosed trailer. I bought a P3 controller. I removed the small panel above the radio and found a gray plug mounted in that panel, I assume that is the plug that I use with the jumper wire from the P3. Now I had to buy a complete wiring kit, because this van was not wired or at least I dont think it was , cant find the 7 way plug anywhere , so I ordered your wiring kit with the small box that you mount behind tail light. My main question is where or how do I run the blue wire coming out of my 7 round plug that came in your kit? Does that tap in to the brake controller somehow? Dont see how plugging in the P3 in the dash is going to communicate to the trailer brakes without it somehow being connected to the 7 way round plug. I really appreciate any help on this. Thank you.

It sounds like you bought a Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 and bought a Tow Ready Wiring Harness part # 118551 to provide a 4-way. You said you ordered a 7-way as well but I am not sure what you bought as I could not find you in our system.
What you would need to complete your installation that would tie everything together would be the brake controller installation kit part # ETBC7. This comes with a 7-way, but it also comes with everything needed to convert your 4-way to a fully functional 7-way and install your brake controller.
I attached a set of detailed installation instructions for the # ETBC7 and an install video for this product on a very similar Ford van as yours.
