Recommended 5th Wheel Rails and Gooseneck Adapter for a 2016 Ram 2500
Question:
I have a 2016 ram 2500. I bought the truck you can see where it had rails bolted in the bed. It does not have a set of rails, it did. They removed them before I bought the truck. What im looking for is a kit to install these rails back in with the attachment for the gooseneck. Id also like to be able to at a later day attach a 5th wheel to these same rails. I want to keep all this on top of the bed I dont want anything that mounts under the bed. Let me know if this is an option.

To add a set of industry standard 5th wheel rails to the bed of your 2016 Ram 2500 you will want the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ram Trucks item # C16427-204. These rails are custom fit and install in predrilled holes in your Ram's frame.
If they just took the rails out of the bed and you still have the brackets installed beneath you will want the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails item # C16204. These are only the rails you see in the bed. If the brackets from the prior owner are still installed you can use these. If not you'll need the entire kit item # C16427-204.
You won't need to remove or modify the rails to haul a gooseneck trailer. You will just need the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch item # 16085. This adapter will attach to your rails and give you a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball with a 25,000 lbs capacity.
If you don't want to remove your rails and install an underbed kit this is by far your best option in both convenience and cost.
I have linked a review video below so you can see how to get this part set up.
To make towing with a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your trailers easier and more convenient.
