Safety System Error on Toyota Rav4 with Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller

Question:

Hooked up my voyager break controller on my 2019 rav 4 but now when I activate the brakes it shuts down my safety system in my car. I understand theres a module I can purchase 4 pin that will prevent this from occurring. Any answers? Help !

I have not yet heard of this issue with the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510 or one similar on a Toyota Rav4 but if it's anything like the 4Runner or Highlanger, it's caused by back feed on the stop light switch circuit from the brake controller which is the red wire coming from the back of the unit. In order to fix this you will simply need to install a one amp diode in-line on this circuit which you should be able to obtain locally from an electronics or audio supply store.
