How Far From The Tailgate Does The First Base Rail Get Installed In A 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Long Bed
Question:
Hey Kevin, I am installing this on a 2006 Dodge 2500 long bed. All I can see on your YouTube videos are short beds. I am looking for the measurements from the rear of the truck bed to the rear mounting plate. Can you give me the measurements for my truck? Thanks

For a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 long bed you would need the 28-1/4" from the tailgate end of the bed to the edge of the rail. I've attached a diagram below from the installation instructions of part # RP50140-58 to show this measurement. The spacing from the center of the first rail that you'll install to the center of the rail closer to the cab will need to be 22". If you have a 5th wheel hitch already then you can make this easier by dropping the hitch into the rails and going off the spacing from the hitch.
