Can 5,200 lb Timbren Axle-Less Use 20 Inch Wheels
Question:
Hello: I am fabricating an overland camping trailer and I want to use the Timbren 52HD suspension with some existing tires and wheels i have laying around. The tires are 275 55R20. The wheels have 6x5.5 bolt configuration. Can you recommend hubs with electric brakes that I can use with this setup? Also, is there any reason I should not use Timbren suspension with an aluminum trailer? Thanks

Expert Reply:
You cannot use your 275-55R20 tires with a 20 inch wheel with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # TASR5200S03, the system as well as the hub won't support the wheel and it will fall off. You have to use 16 inch or smaller wheels and tires like the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Galvanized Wheel # AM32666.
Then for a hub and brakes use the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K, Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459 and Hardware # BRKH12.
