Can Weight Distribution Hitch Be Installed On Trailer With 30 Degree A-Frame

Question:

Hi there. Im wondering if weight distributing hitches will work on a tongue that is attached with a 30 degree angle on the trailer from above. I see that most of the couplers are 50 degrees but the trailier I am building will need to be 30 degrees. I hope that question makes sense. Im hoping so. Thank you so much and I appreciate you guys for how great you are with your products!

Yes, you will be able to use a weight distribution hitch on your trailer with the 30 degree angle. For a system like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET the angle is not an issue. The only thing that will matter is that you have enough distance from the trailer coupler to install the brackets on the frame. For this particular WDH that distance is 27-32" from the center of the coupler.

Once you have your trailer complete, you will need to know the loaded tongue weight to choose the correct system. You can use the bathroom scale method outlined in the article below, or use an actual scale like the # e99044.

The Equal-i-zer listed above has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs so as long as you're in that range it will work. Ideally you want to be somewhere in the middle. Keep in mind, this will also include the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

I have attached some helpful articles on weight distribution below, including how to measure tongue weight, for your reference.
