Can Curt E16 Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Swap to 20k Hitch Head
Question:
I have 2015 curt e16 slider. Want to go with 20k slider. I know rails will work but what about slider bars? Do they need to be upgraded for 20k or will present bars work. Is it an easy swap out for 1 person. Thank you!

To upgrade to a 20,000 lb sliding 5th wheel hitch you'd need an all new hitch; reason for that is the base of the sliding Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 is rated for a max of 16,000 lbs, so you can't swap to a 20,000 lb hitch head.
So you're right that your current base rails will work, but to get the higher 20,000 lb capacity you will need the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # C55DR.
