Can Kenda KR25 Tires Be Ran at Lower PSI Rating for Better Towing on a Small Cargo Trailer

Question:

I had this trailer made to pull behind a Goldwing trike to haul my wife’s wheelchair on. The trailer is small and the weight of the trailer and chair around 500 pounds. The trailer has kenda 145R 12 tires on it. This is the only thing that the trailer will be used for. Can I run less than the maximum pressure to get a little softer ride. Thanks

Looks like you're running the Kenda KR25 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum HWT Wheel # AM31208HWT - thanks for the photo!

The tire is rated for 1,220 lbs at 65 psi so I can definitely see why you're experiencing bounce. You can definitely let some air out of the tires to reduce the weight rating and get a better towing experience, just understand that Kenda doesn't have a chart showing different weight ratings at different psi levels so anything under 65 psi will be an unknown weight rating.

Long story short - yes, but be careful.
