Weight Distribution Shank Recommendation for 2020 Ford Ranger with 23" Coupler Height
Question:
I have a 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4 with Icon rear leaf springs set up on option 2 / rear 2.5 w/resivoir / front 2.5 leveling struts and tubular UCAs. What size adjustable shank would I need if the top of the hitch receiver is 23 inch from ground?

Expert Reply:
The average trailer coupler is 16" - 18" measured from the ground to the bottom of the receiver so if the top inside of the hitch receiver on your 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4 is 23" from the ground we need to use a shank with a drop of at least 7" to get to that 16" height. This means you need the following:
- 10K Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution # EQ37101ET
- Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4300 (for max 6" drop)
- Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4400 (for max 9" drop)
- 1-7/8" Thin-Walled Socket # EQ70-00-4800 (to install included hitch ball)
Obviously the amount of drop needed will vary depending on the trailer coupler height so if you can provide that number to me I can make more of a direct recommendation for you.
