Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 7K Airstream Food Trailer

Question:

Looking to purchase a weight distribution and anti sway trailer hitch, for my food trailer, airstream. My tounge weight is around 450lbs. Max trailer weight is 7,000 lbs. which hitch should I buy? I’m looking to buy the right one and don’t know if getting something bigger then required would be okay or should the hitch be similar to my needs instead of being stronger.

If the 450 lbs of TW is with your trailer loaded up and ready to go then the 6K Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU36FR is what I recommend, but if you haven't loaded your trailer up yet and you plan on getting closer to that 7K GVWR, the 10K Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU77FR is going to be a better solution for you.

When choosing a Weight Distribution System (WDS) you want to find one with a Tongue Weight (TW) range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find the TTW of your towing setup you will need to add the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer, which you can use part # e99044 for, along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer.
