Replacement For Dexter 8-147 Hub
Question:
Does Dexter part # 8-247-50 replaces Dexter 8-147? I know the lug pattern is old style on 8-147 and needs special wheel rims, that is the I want to replace it.

The # 8-247-50 matches the capacity, but it uses the modern bearing configuration with # L44649 outer and # L68149 inner bearings. The 8-147 uses a # LM48548 inner bearing which means these hubs will not fit your spindle. The best solution is to replace your current axle. We have the following 3,500 lb axle lengths available:
-Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles - 89" Long # e38GR
-Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles - 95" Long # e68GR
You want to choose a replacement axle based on the hub face to hub face measurement, which is the length. If you have a different spring seat measurement you can cut off the existing spring seats and weld on # TRSS238 to match what you currently have. Both of these axles would allow you to use the # 8-247-50.
If your axle length doesn't match one of those listed above and you can't find a replacement, you may need to use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A35RS545E. This fits any trailer width and comes with the hubs and brakes.
I have attached some review and installation videos below, along with a video on how to measure your axle for your reference.
