Recommended 7-Way Connector for a 2016 Toyota Highlander Using a Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
We have a 2016 Toyota Highlander with factory tow package. Problem is we want to tow our camper that has a 7 way plug. We currently have a Curt Echo brake controller that we want to use. What do you have available in a harness to make this work? We would like to have a dual plug, 4 way and 7 way, if possible as we have a light utility trailer also and would prefer not to have to purchase a 7 way to 4 way adapter, but will if we need to. Thank you very much

It sounds like your 2016 Highlander already has a 4-way connector. I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7L. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Toyota with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
You will then connect the black wire to the positive post on the vehicle's battery, the white wire to ground, and the yellow wire to vehicle's reverse circuit if applicable. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's accessory lights.
Since you are using the wireless Curt Echo item # C51180 you will not need to run a brake controller wire.
