Should You Shim the Gaps in the Spring Eyes When Using the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit

Question:

I got the Morryde HD shackle kit and X-Factor cross members. The parts are correct for my 2018 Reflection 220RK I am replacing my current springs Question Should I or do I need to shim the spring eyes in the hangers? Hanger are stock and roughly measure 2inch inside. Actual measurements are 1 7/8 plus a smidge 1/16. When the new Morryde wet bolts are installed they leave a gap inside the spring hanger either side of the spring eye - about 1/4inch total play side to side skinny 1/8 each side if centered. My stock springs are the same way with slop on both sides of the spring eye. The appear to fit the hanger correctly and do not unduly bend the hanger when torqued to specification Is this designed in and should be left alone, or should I shim the play mostly out? I also have the EZ-Flex center section. the center steel busing is a solid fit in the hanger, but not overly tight. It measures about 1 7/8 width - as mentioned above the hanger is a smidge wider. However the forged section is only 1 3/4 wide leaving room for it to move side to side in the hanger on the steel bushing. Should this be shimmed to prevent that much movement? Or is this the way it is designed. If it should be shimmed do you know the OD of that steel bushing. Thanks for any help

Expert Reply:

No, you should not shim the spring eyes. When using the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR46ZR and MORryde X-Factor Crossmember; you should have some play in the system. This ensures that everything can move correctly. This is the same for your EZ-Flex system.
