Choosing Between Class II and III Hitch for 2014 Kia Sorento V6
Question:
I have a 2014 Kia Sorento EX V6 and I would like to install a hitch. My trailer is approx. 2,000 Lbs with a tongue weight around 200-225 Lbs. I am considering the Curt C12113 class II and the Curt C13152 class III. Does one have less ground clearance than the other? What would the advantage be using the class III over a class II if both exceed my needs? I currently have class II draw bars/pins but I will likely need different /rise so my existing hardware may not be of any use. Thanks

If the option is available, we always recommend going with a Class III. A Class III hitch will feature the more common 2 inch receiver opening that has many more compatible accessories available. In the case of your 2014 Sorento, the Class III hitch is actually a few dollars less expensive. The ground clearance for either hitch would be identical.
Both hitches have plenty of capacity for your needs, and the Class III actually has a capacity that is higher than the 3500 lb tow rating of your Sorento. I would personally opt for the Class III, because of its more common receiver opening size that would allow for a greater selection of future hitch mounted accessories and because of its lower price.
You will also need a trailer connector for the trailer lights. If your Sorento has the tow package, use the Curt T-connector, part # C56332, which is pretty much a plug-and-play proposition. If you do NOT have the tow package, use the # C56256. I have linked you to some install videos that you might find helpful.
