Will Reese Weight Distribution System # RP67509 Work for a 3,680 Pound Trailer and Truck with ATV

Question:

Would you recommend the Reese #RP67509 for a 25foot 2003 Surveyor TT with a dry weight of 3680lbs and tongue weight of 325lbs? Typical cargo carried in trailer is 1000lbs. Tow vehicle is a 2008 Tundra DC 4x4 with the factory tow package. I occassionaly will also be carrying a quad in the box of the truck as well.

The typical tongue weight of a trailer is 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. Once loaded that should put the tongue weight of your trailer between 468 pounds and 702 pounds. But then you have to add to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If not much of the quad is behind the rear axle of the truck when it is loaded then you will probably be within the range of the Reese system # RP67509. But to be sure you will need to load everything up and then determine the tongue weight. Using a large scale like at a truck stop or place that sells bulk rock and gravel is the best way to do this.

I have linked a help article that explains different ways to determine tongue weight. Be sure to also have the quad loaded because that will be key in figuring out if this system is rated high enough for your needs.
