Troubleshooting Left and Right Turn Trailer Light Circuit that Activates Together
Question:
I have a thin line trailer tail light similar to #STL59R with 3 wires that I wired to a flat 4 wire plug using the directions in your post. The turn signals both flash when I put on either directional signal. What did I do wrong? Thank You.

Most likely you have the stop/turn and running lights backwards on your trailer light that looks like the part # STL59RB. You can easily test that by seeing if the running light circuit makes the light assembly brighter than the brake circuit.
Otherwise you would have a short between the left and right stop/turn circuits which is why they both are activating at same time. You'd need to go over the circuits looking for any shorts between the two wires like cut/exposed wire and fix as needed.
