Raising Trailer Suspension To Clear Rear Leaf Spring From Hitting The Crossmember

Question:

I have a dual axle utility trailer. I put on brand new 3500 lb axles. The trailer is sitting too low and the crossmember is resting on the rear of my spring. The unloaded trailer is measuring 26 in eye to eye. If I go to to a 4,000 lb spring with shortening it to the 25 and a quarter eye to eye Will that help raise the frame higher.

It appears you may have installed shackle straps which are longer than what you may have had. It appears your straps are either 3-1/8" # TRSL313 or 3-1/2" # TRSL350 and you likely only need a 2-1/4" # TRSL225. This would move the mounting point closer to the axle and raise the trailer approximately 1/2". To get enough height to clear your crossmember you will likely need the Lift Kit # RR23QX. This will allow you to raise the suspension either 1-1/4" or 2-1/4" to clear your rear crossmember.

On a 4,000lb 25-1/4" Leaf Spring # e93SR the spring only has a height of 3". The 4,000lb 26" Leaf Spring # e48SR has a height of 4-1/4". So by going to the shorter spring you will most likely lose height depending on the height of your current springs.
