How To Choose the Correct Ball Mount for a 2018 VW Atlas
Question:
Hello. I have a 2018 VW Atlas, V6 SEL premium trim with 5000 lbs towing capability. I have installed a VW hitch 3CN092730A. This provides a hitch height of 19.5. The trailer I have, a 2007 Chalet XL1930, has a hitch height of 21. Do you have any recommendations of how to increase the hitch height? I dont think I can flip the hitch from a to rise. Is there a different product that would work with my vehicle and this trailer? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated! Thank you, Dan

In order to choose the correct ball mount for a trailer you first need to measure the distance from ground to the top inside edge of the trailer hitch on the vehicle while level. Then, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. The difference between these two measurements is the amount of rise/drop you need to look for in a ball mount. If the trailer is higher than the vehicle then you need a rise or if the trailer is lower than the vehicle then you need a drop.
If the measurements you provided were taken using the above guidelines, the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches part # C45030 would be a good option. The ball mount would be flipped to provide a rise and could then be combined with the Pin and Clip part # C21500 and 2" Hitch Ball part # 63845.
Unfortunately, I can't really advise on the parts you provided as these are not ones we carry.
