Do All 1996 Ford F-250's Have a Brake Controller Plug Under the Dash

Question:

I bought a brake controller and adapter cable from you. I am unable to locate a factory plug that matches the plug on the adapter cable. I did find another plug grey but it is a different configuration see photo. Do all 1996 Ford F250HD trucks come with a place to plug in the adapter. I have been all through your literature and have found nothing to show where this adapter cable will plug in. I am capable of doing the generic spliceinch installation but would need to be assured there is no ready to plug in adapter on this truck. Image of adapter in the instructions does not match the actual adapter as far as the lay out of the pins. Photos are attached for clarity. Thanks,

In regards to a 1996 Ford F-250, most model have a factory brake controller plug under the dash but there are some out there which don't, those models usually don't have any other tow package components from the factory. However, the vast majority of the time there just simply isn't enough effort put into finding the plug as they are not just dangling down under the dash for you to see, they are usually tucked away, hidden very well and even sometimes taped to other wires. My best advice for you is to take the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P and match that up with the correct plug under the dash, if present. If you have searched to the best of your abilities then you'll need to do a full hardwire install using a kit like the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers part # 5506.

Please note, the plug you have attached does not appear correct, it only has three terminals which are not enough to support a trailer brake controller.
