What Length Yakima CoreBar to Carry Two LockRack Kayak Carriers with 29 in Wide Kayaks

Question:

Im researching the best way to carry 2 kayaks 10foot sit ins about 29inch wide on a 2022 F-250 with a A.R.E cap. The roof rack is a Yakima with 50inch aero core bars. I stumbled on to this Lockrack LR54FR and like the idea of the kayaks being locked in, still think Id use tie-downs straps for extra safety. What size cross bar would you recommend for two of the lockracks? Could the kayaks be loaded from the back of the truck cap? Thanks

Expert Reply:

You'd want crossbars that are about 60 inches long to fit two of the LockRack Adjustable XL Carriers part # LR54FR since your boats are 29 inches long. So for a pair of 60 inch Yakima CoreBars you'd want the part # Y00422 and you'd be set. You would most likely need to put the outside mounting bracket of the rack to the outside of your roof rack feet.
