How Does Weight Distribution System Chain Hanger Attach to Reese Pole Tongue Adapter

Question:

Looking to use an equalizer hitch on a single tongue trailer. The unique thing is that the 3 x 3 tube used for the tongue has a SST tube 4inch in O.D. covering the square tube. Thus a single tongue adapter would require either cutting the SST tube to secure the product to the square tubing -or- 2 LH/RH semi circular plates would have to be machined to create a vertical side and then clamp the L-Shaped brackets to it. For the Reese hitch adapter, I do not seeinch any holes pre-drilled thru the sides to attach equalizer hitch parts to. Did I miss something as no customer identifies that they had to painstakingly drill holes thru the sides and nothing is shown by Reese or ETrailer identifying what has to be done.

It is odd that it's left out but yes you do need to drill through the outside plates of the Reese pole tongue adapter part # RP58393 to attach the brackets of the weight distribution system that you have. For the other brands like Equal-i-zer their pole tongue adapter # EQ95-01-5950 comes with the holes drilled and hardware for them. This is because they offer only one style of spring bar frame bracket and Reese has quite a few so they had to make theirs more universal.

I would also make sure you have 29 inches from the center of your hitch ball back on the tongue to make sure you have the room needed for a WD system since that's about how long all of the spring bars are.
