Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2022 Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS

Question:

I got the 75527 from you guys in September 2021 Order #112108255 and need a recommendation for an equalizer weight distribution hitch for a Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS. My truck is a 2010 Tundra V6. I looked at the Blue Ox and Reese WD systems, but Blue Ox is almost twice as much. Wondering what your recommendations are. Thanks.

I would definitely recommend Equal-i-zer for a weight distribution hitch. Unlike other companies with tons of products, Equal-i-zer only focuses on weight distribution and is considered to be the best overall system. Choosing the right hitch will depend on the loaded tongue weight of your setup.

Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of your trailer weight. With a GVWR of 4,999 lbs you're potentially looking at 500-750 lbs of tongue weight from the trailer. You also need to include the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle in your truck. The best way to measure is with a tongue weight scaled like the # e99044. Depending on your tongue weight you need one of the following:

-Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET (200-600 lbs of tongue weight)

-Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET (600-1,000 lbs of tongue weight)

Ideally you want your tongue weight to fall in the middle of the range of the system. With a dry hitch weight of 460 lbs you will probably be on the higher side and need the # EQ37100ET.

If it seems like you will be straddling 600 lbs you may want to consider the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800. Fastway is made by Equal-i-zer so it is a quality system. The tongue weight range is 400-800 lbs so it may be a better fit for your setup. This will also save you some money, with the downside being 2 points of sway control instead of 4. You would also need # EQ91-00-6080 for a 2" ball or # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16" ball along with # ALL643216 for installation.
