Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

There are several different bike rack options available for your 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. The first decision that you will want to make is which style of bike rack you prefer. You can choose from either trunk mount bike racks or spare tire mount bike racks, trailer hitch mount bike racks and roof mount bike racks. Trunk mount and spare tire mount bike racks will be your more economical options. Choosing between these two types of bike racks will depend on whether you have a rear mounted spare tire or not. If you have a rear mounted spare tire, then you could use a bike rack like the Thule Spare Me # TH963PRO. This bike rack will mount at the same location as your spare tire. Trunk mount bike racks are not compatible with vehicles that have rear mounted spare tires.

If you do not have a rear mount spare tire but do have a spoiler at the top of the rear hatch, then the only trunk mount bike rack I recommend using is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Rack, # HRF2. Since most trunk mount bike racks hook to the top edge, they will place most of their load on the spoiler possibly damaging the spoiler. The Over-the-Top bike rack does not place the weight of the bike rack and bikes on the spoiler. I have attached a link to all of the trunk mount bike racks we offer for your Blazer.

Your best bike carrying option would be a hitch mount bike rack like the Swagman XTC-2 Platform-Style Bike Rack, # S64670. The main advantage to using a hitch mount bike rack is that the bike rack will have no contact with the vehicle eliminating the potential for any scratches or damage. If you are interested in a trunk mount bike rack and you have a rear mounted spare tire, then you will want to choose a bike rack that will clear the spare tire. I have attached a help article that explains how to choose a bike rack for vehicles with a rear mounted spare tire to help you.

You must have a trailer hitch on your Blazer to use a hitch mount bike rack. If you do not have a trailer hitch, then you could install the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13300. We have installed this on a 2000 GMC Jimmy, so I attached the video for you to check out. The installation process will be the same on your Blazer.

Your final option is a roof mount bike rack. Roof mount bike racks require a roof rack with crossbars that run side to side. If you do not have a roof rack, then you can add an aftermarket roof rack. There are several roof rack options available, but choosing the correct roof rack for you will depend on how your roof is equipped and whether you have a 2 door or 4 door Blazer.
