Location Of Brake Controller Connection Port On A 2012 Infiniti QX56
Question:
Trying to find the factory wiring connection. Havent located it near the emergency brake, but there is a connector taped to another cable closer to the service port connector, but thats on the gas pedal side. Can this possibly be the connector im looking for. No tags present, just a lot of electrical tape securing it to another cable bundle running from the tech service connector. Some mentioned that it might be tucked behind a panel all the way to the driver side door next to the emergency brake pedal. Didnt want to remove that panel to look, if this other connector location might be the right one....thanks for any help you can offer.

If you have the factory 7-way connector on your 2012 Infiniti QX56, the connector used for the brake controller will be located under the driver side of the dash. I have attached a photo that shows what the plug-in adapter on the harness that connects between the brake controller and the vehicle connector looks like. If the pins on the connector you found under the dash match the pin pattern of the connector in the photo then that is your connector. You may have to remove a small panel on the side or it may be taped to some wires under the dash.
If you are having difficulty finding the connector and as you said it is not marked, you may wish to consult either your owners manual or the dealership to make sure you locate the correct one.
I have attached a link to an article that explains the installation of a brake controller from scratch.
