Which Curt Weight Distribution System for Trailer with 950 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
1. What are the individual weights of curt 17500 head assembly, bars, shank 2 have 950 lb tongue weight. The 10-15k model seems too much. Will the 17500 suffice for my application? Thank you in advance for your response

Expert Reply:
The Curt weight distribution system part # C17500 that you referenced would be the correct system to use if your loaded tongue weight was 950 lbs. The total weight of this system is 120 lbs but this does not count against the tongue weight rating of itself so you wouldn't be over the range by using this system due to it's weight. Curt and our other manufacturers have told us that essentially the system becomes a part of the trailer hitch which is why it's weight doesn't count.
