Reese or Curt Weight Distribution For 2020 Coachmen 187RB
Question:
Hello, I am trying to decide which weight distribution hitch to purchase. I know that getting one too high rated is not desirable. Using a Ford Expedition, I am towing a 2020 Coachmen 187RB, GVWR 3800#, dry weight 3054. I don't know the tongue weight, but it has a battery and 2 lp tanks. Would a curt be adequate? Or do I need the RP66558?

For your 2020 Coachmen 187RB with a 3,800 lb GVWR, the issue with the Curtis its tongue weight rating is for 600 lbs, and your Coachmen may not hit that rating. That would result in a very choppy ride, so the best option is indeed to go with the Reese Weight Distribution System # RP66558.
This has a tongue weight rating of between 400 lbs and 600 lbs, which your Coachmen will definitely fall in so this will work for you. This comes with everything you need for install except the hitch ball, the size of which depends on your trailer's coupler. You'll need either 2" Hitch Ball # 40038 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40007.
