Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 29 Foot American Hauler Enclosed Snowmobile Trailer

Question:

I just purchased an American Hauler 29foot Aluminum inline enclosed Snowmobile Trailer. It has the taller 8foot ceiling design and Im towing it with a 2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7L TRD. Its a 4 place snowmobile trailer and Im towing 3 on average but want it to be able to handle for 4. The sleds weigh approximately 500lbs a piece. I estimate the trailer is approximately 2,500lbs. Trailer fully loaded with 4 sleds and gear estimated 4,500lbs. Im getting nailed with the sidewinds across open fields and semi-trucks on the highway. Ive adjusted the weight balance inside the trailer, but need more help. Ive attached a photo of the trailer. Im looking for the best possible setup to help with the sway. What do you recommend? Pulling the trailer has become nerve racking, please help!!! Thank you,

Thank you very much for including a photo of your trailer, that helped out a lot. I recommended a slightly different weight distribution system than the Pro-Series # PS49582 that you mentioned due to the geometry of the tongue of your trailer. Since the angle of the tongue of your trailer is more of a pull tongue style as opposed to an a-frame style, the traditional weight distribution systems will not be the most beneficial to you. You may also need to consider using the # RP58305 side mount chain hangers for your application.

Please note that to use any of the weight distribution system, you will most likely have to relocate your trailer jack, since it will interfere with the mounting positioning of the spring bars.

Also please check with the trailer manufacturer and make sure that a weight distribution system is allowable. We have seen in the past that some trailer manufacturers that use aluminum frames, do not allow the use of a weight distribution systems, due to the additional stress placed on the trailer frame.

I have included links to the products referenced above, and a helpful article that explains the components of a weight distribution system for you.
