Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2012 Cadillac SRX

Question:

Hello, I have a 2012 Cadillac SRX and a 2010 Tiffin Phaeton that currently has a Blue Ox Alpha tow bar. I am trying to fit the Caddy for a flat tow and found the base plate needed BX 1690. I am considering using the Roadmaster Invisibrake RM8700 as the Tow Bar brake system – are all of these compatible? Can I use either the BX8848 or RM 154 wiring kit? And is the only other item needed the RM-751441 Stop Light Switch? I am also researching the Blue Ox Patriot 3 BRK2019 but have found differing statements that it may not be compatible with the 2012 Caddy SRX – can you advise? Thanks so much

Since you're using a Blue Ox Alpha tow bar # BX7380 you will want to stick with the Blue Ox baseplate # BX1690. The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 would be a compatible fit with your SRX and motorhome, but I want to warn you that the control box has to be permanently mounted inside of the vehicle and is quite big. It will also require stop light switch # RM-751441 to properly operate.

The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR (newest version of the BRK2019) would work with your SRX but you'd also have to install an outlet # RM-9332 to power it. This system is a universal fit so it can sometimes be a bit of a pain to find the correct height and get it properly fit up against the driver's seat.

For the lighting you'll want to use the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will come with everything you need, including the adapter cable to run from the motorhome to the SRX.

If you need safety cables then I recommend going with the Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643. The coiled design will help keep it up off the ground.
