Does the Indicator on the MB Sturgis Auto Changeover Regulator Turn Red When on the 2nd Bottle

Question:

MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator Item # 888001-MBS. Does the regulator show green when the on service propane bottle is supplying propane and red when the stand by bottle is supplying propane? Is the top of the button also an indicator and if so how big is the window? Perhaps you can clearly show the indications. Note: with a propane tank cover installed it is near impossible to read the service/stand by indication on most auto changeover regulators - manufacturers need to be dope slapped on this.

No, the Sturgi-Warn indicator on the MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator # 888001-MBS is not going to show green when on the in service bottle and red when it switches over. The Sturgi-Warn indicator is more of a fuel gauge, rather than an empty indicator. As long as there is propane flowing through the regulator, then it will give you a reading. It does not differentiate between the two sperate bottles.

Also, you can read the gauge from both the top and the side. The window on the top is pretty small at just .28".

If having a better idea of the propane levels in each bottle is highly important, I would recommend using the GasStop Emergency Propane Shut-Off Gauges w 18" Hoses and Automatic Changeover Regulator # GS69FR. This includes a propane gauge on each hose to help you more easily identify your propane levels in each bottle.
